Hagee endorses McCain
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
For those of you new to the game, Pastor Hagee is an ardent supporter of an independent Israel. No, "independent" is the wrong word, I should say a U.S. financially-backed Israel. His support purportedly stems from his belief that Christians need to support Israel in order to assure the imminent arrival of the Apocalypse (which Christians should apparently heartily welcome). The oft-times controversial Wikipedia does a pretty good job of documenting Hagee's antics. McCain's strong Pro-Israel position dovetails very nicely with Hagee's.
Neo-liberal McCain needs the conservative Christian vote even more than "W" did and Hagee needs McCain in order to boost his apocalypse-political cred and donations. Televangelist Rod Parsley is also jumping on the McCain bandwagon. McCain, branded a maverick is desperately trying to tap the "W/Passion of the Christ" demographic voting block.
The funny thing is, these guys have a wacky view of Christianity that is not mainstream, but has captivated millions. Hagee does not believe the Jews need Jesus: "Jews already have a covenant with God that has never been replaced by Christianity". Some people call it the "Dual Covenant" theory. Hmm... seems to be similar to what some in the Catholic Hierarchy profess.
Conclusion: This is no surprise for those who have followed these guys. There are circles within circles within circles here. What it means is, there will be no lessening of the Mid-east problems if McCain gets in.
