Woman Claims To See Virgin Mary In Tree Stump

SACRAMENTO - Residents at the Summerset apartment complex in South Sacramento are seeing an image of the Virgin Mary in a tree stump. "I guess this is a sign, a miracle that's happening," beamed Arlene Garcia as she stood by the stump.

The residents of Summerset say they needed a miracle. They recently went several days without hot water, and they live in a neighborhood that is well acquainted with crime. But all of that seems to fade into the background when they ponder the mysterious image. "My heart just dropped," said resident Mary Norman, describing her reaction when she saw the stump. "We just need it. It's a blessing."

One resident told FOX40 the image first appeared on December 12th, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the Catholic Calendar. She said a maintenance worker was sawing the stump, attempting to remove it when the image became visible.
