An anonymous donor has given $50 million to the University of St. Thomas' Opus College of Business, the school said Thursday.The gift is one of the three largest gifts to Minnesota higher education and will go toward the university's $500 million "Opening Doors" capital campaign launched last October. It will help increase the college's endowment and support student scholarships and faculty research.
Last fall, the university received a $60 million gift from Lee and Penny Anderson. Lee Anderson is owner and chairman of St. Paul-based APi Group Inc.
In 2000, the school received a $50 million gift from Best Buy founder and chairman Richard Schulze and his late wife, Sandra.
With this latest gift, the "Opening Doors" campaign has raised $317 million.
